DILLON AGREES TO ‘ONE MORE YEAR’ ON THE PITCH FOR MIGHTY MO!

Montrose FC’s Sean Dillon has, at the ripe old age of 42, signed a one-year extension to his player/coach contract, making him one of the most senior, highly experienced professionals set to feature on the park in the SPFL this coming season.

Dillon’s arrival from Dundee United in 2017 marked the beginning of a remarkable spell at the heart of Stewart Petrie’s achievements. Across 324 appearances, he has brought leadership, maturity, and dependable quality season after season. His continued commitment provides further stability and momentum as Montrose look ahead to the next stage of their journey.

Petrie had nothing but praise for the Irishman, stating: “Sean’s influence at the club is enormous – a leader, a mentor, and a model professional whose experience lifts everyone around him.

“The fact his fitness levels are still high enough to play in League 1 reflects everything positive about him and his character. His commitment sets the tone every single day, and we’re thrilled he’ll continue to play a key part on and off the pitch for at least one more year.”

Dillon added, “I feel very lucky to be still playing. The staff, Directors, and everyone at the club have been amazing with me and my family since I signed, so it was such an easy decision to make, to continue being part of this fantastic club.

“I’m obviously very grateful to the Manager and Ross for bringing me to the club and helping me prolong my playing career longer than I had expected, whilst being part of the coaching set up. “I’m looking forward to the coming season with as much excitement as ever.”
