Gable Endies fan Benedikt Ingi Kristínarson made the 1,700 mile round trip from Reykjavik just before Christmas, and took the opportunity to experience his first Montrose game when the Mighty Mo took on Airdrieonians.

Crossing the water from Iceland, Benedikt was in town to visit girlfriend Niamh Hogg, whose father is current Montrose Women physio Darren Hogg.

The 17 year old liked his first impressions of the town with much to remind him of home including the harbour and the many large boats.

With both Niamh and her dad’s close connections with the club, Benedikt has started to follow the Gable Endies and eagerly watches out for the scores back home.

He said, “It was so nice to attend a game during my stay over the Christmas period. I enjoyed the game and although sadly it was not the result we wanted, I will definitely be making a trip back to Links Park in the future.

“Hopefully I can also catch a Women’s match during my next trip over. Happy New Year to everyone at Montrose FC!”
