REMEMBERING WILLIE CALLAGHAN
We were extremely saddened to learn today of the passing of former player Willie Callaghan at the age of just 56.
Willie was signed by Manager Jim Leishman in February 1992 from Inverness Thistle and featured 16 times for the Gable Endies before moving on to Cowdenbeath in the September of the same year as part of a player swap deal.
Willie’s father, of the same name, played for Dunfermline and Scotland in the 60’s and 70’s, and his Uncle Tommy played for both Dunfermline and Celtic in the same era.
Closer to home of course is Willie’s own son Liam, who followed in his fathers footsteps, signing for Montrose in 2016 from Arbroath and who has made to date 170 appearances for the Club.
Everyone at Montrose FC would like to pass on our heartfelt thoughts and deepest condolences to Liam and his family at this very emotional and difficult time.
