Montrose FC forward Blair Lyons clocked up his 100th appearance for the Gable Endies recently in an entertaining 3-3 home draw with Kelty Hearts, becoming incredibly the tenth player of the current squad to pass the century mark for the Club.

Manager Stewart Petrie brought the 26 year old to Links Park in the summer of 2019 from Lowland League side University of Stirling. The tricky winger made an instant impact in his 32 appearances, ending the season as top goal scorer with 9 strikes and landing a big money move to full time football with Championship outfit Partick Thistle.

With the following campaign being a disrupted, covid stricken season, Lyons found it difficult to establish himself within Ian McCall’s plans and so in the summer of 2021, a loan deal was struck with the Firhill side, paving the way for a Links Park return, which was subsequently made a permanent 3 year arrangement 12 months later.

A firm fans favourite, Blair lifted three trophies at the Club’s End of Season awards last term and now has 23 goals to his name, including 6 this season, with his most recent securing a narrow 1-0 win at home to Queen of the South.
