SMITH’S EARLY DEFENSIVE FORM REWARDED WITH GABLE ENDIES CONTRACT EXTENSION
Montrose FC have wasted no time in extending for a further 12 months, the contract of promising young centre half Craig Smith, keeping the 23-year-old at Links Park until the summer of 2026.
Craig signed for Manager Stewart Petrie back in June, making the step up from East of Scotland League side Heriot-Watt University, where as captain he had notched up 119 appearances and 10 goals.
Being thrown straight into Petrie’s League 1 side, Smith has already made 8 appearances for the Gable Endies and scored his first SPFL goal in a 2-1 home win against Edinburgh City in the Premier Sports Cup.
Petrie said, “Craig has settled in very quickly, done really well and is thoroughly deserving of his contract extension. He is already providing real competition for places in our back line with potentially much more to come, which is really exciting all round.”
