Stewart Petrie has been voted Glen’s Manager of the Month for September, for the William Hill League 1, his seventh such award in his time at Links Park.

Two wins and one draw saw Petrie‘s side end the month unbeaten and in third place, just a single point off top spot.

The month began with a tough home fixture against last season’s league 2 winners Stenhousemuir, with goals from Hester, Quinn and Williamson’s first for the Club securing all three points.

A tricky away trip followed to Dumbarton, where a fabulous early strike in the 6^th minute by Hester looked to set the Gable Endies on their way for a comfortable afternoon. However, The Sons were determined to record their first win, having incredibly drawn all of their first six league games, and threw everything at the Mo defence, dominating all the post-match stats except the scoreline as Gill secured back-to-back clean sheets.

This setup a month ending, top of the table clash with Alloa Athletic and thanks to goals from Shrive and Hester, the Mighty Mo twice enjoyed being momentarily top of the league before a last gasp second equaliser by the Wasps spoilt the fun.

Petrie said, “Absolutely delighted to be receiving this award, but it really is a team effort. Having started the month with a disappointing cup result, the boys bounced back fabulously well, taking 7 points from our three league games, keeping two clean sheets along the way.

“If we can continue to build on that defensive strength, and maintain our good goalscoring form, we have much to look forward to and be excited about in the months ahead.”

This trophy adds to Petrie’s previous monthly awards for October 2021, December 2020, December 2019, October 2019, December 2018, November 2017 and his Manager of the Year Award for 2017/18.
