Montrose FC have agreed terms with Dundee North End for the transfer of goalkeeper Ross Matthews, who spent the majority of last season on loan at the Midlands Premier League side.

Ross began his career in the Dundee FC youth system, before joining the Links Park Academy in 2018, from where he earned his first pro-contract in 2023.

The 22-year-old has made 20 appearances for Stewart Petrie’s side, and the Manager believes this move is right for all parties concerned.

Petrie said, “Ross has really enjoyed his time at North End this year, and obviously playing regularly is a big part of this. He has been a solid and reliable figure in our setup here for a long time now, but the one thing we couldn’t guarantee him was enough game time.

“This move will help him achieve that, as in goalkeeping terms, he is still very young and has a huge future ahead of him.

“We would like to thank Ross for all his efforts and wish him all the very best.

“Finally, I would like to thank all those at North End who have made both this season’s loan and this permanent move happen.”
